ORM services have been working with a major company who is researching modular blocks that can be constructed to be practically anything. The idea was first inspired by the Disney movie, Big Hero Six. The main character invents tiny nano bots that can be manipulated in real time by simply thinking about it. A helmet was made to help control the nano bots and can be used to help build things at a much faster rate. The real company who is building modular nano bots doesn’t work as perfectly as seen in the animated movie; however, it does have the same principle. It can be manipulated to form anything, either as a chair or a hammer. What makes it truly fascinating is the fact that the blocks are quite strong. It was tested by forming a wall and they crashed a Volvo S60 into the wall. The car was totalled but the wall remained intact.
The wall only had scratch marks but no damage within the blocks. The material is made from a mixture of carbon fibre and reinforced steel, which makes it stronger than having one element; hence why the destroyed car. The modular blocks can’t be controlled with your mind like in the animated movie. It reads its instructions from a program where it needs to be typed out. At the moment, there are only a few objects it can morph into such as a chair, hammer, stool, table, wall and a tree to name a few. However, it will be able to morph into most inanimate objects with its primary functions that goes along with it. For example, they want to have the ability to turn into a sharp knife but in order for this to work, they must house smaller blocks within the regular sized blocks and is released for special objects to properly construct a sharp blade.
Online reputation services are creating videos on how this technology works and posting it on social media sites to create awareness about the product. They are also asking for help on what other ideas they can incorporate into the technology. Originally, the company wanted to focus on attracting more ideas to help them add in extra features on what the general public would want to have in such a product. Then they realized they already have all the major elements of the product design completed and are waiting on the programmers to add in the other possible objects it can transform into.
